Sammy Moore's Leatherhead entertain National League side, Woking Football Club at River Lane on Tuesday the 11th of July (KO 19:45) The fixture will be Sammy's third game in charge of his 10 man contracted side, the question on everyone's mind is can they bounce back from a disappointing drawn at The weekend to Bromley FC.
Surrey Rivals, Woking battled against relegation to remain in the National League side last season, the 'Cards' have since gone on to lose star players such as top scorer Gozie Ugwu To Chesterfield and Last seasons star defender, Terell Thomas has Joined Wigan Athletic. However new Manager Anthony Limbrick who took over the Cards in May has gone onto sign 9 players including the likes of Joe Ward from National League winners, Lincoln City. With big changes happening at the Laithwaite community stadium including a potential takeover, it comes with the club having to release a number of players including Chike Kandi who has recently signed for the Tanners and scored 2 goals on his Debut against Corinthian fc.
Last time the two sides met was back In January when the Tanners drew Woking away in the Surrey Senior Cup but despite the 'Green Army' turning up in numbers the tanners were unable to prevent a 2-0 loss, however the defeat didn't dampen Former Leatherhead manager, Jimmy Bullard's spirit as he described the tanners as 'Trying Their best' with goalkeeper Louis wells producing a number of emphatic one handed saves.
Leatherhead started their pre season campaign away at Kent Side, Corinthian on Friday the 7th, the 1st half won't be one to forget at Sammy's side led 3-0 before the break with goals coming from Chike Kandi (X2) and Jack Midson (X1) The 2nd half wasn't any less dull however Corinthian soon came back into reaching distance when they scored a penalty. However that didn't last long before young Calum Davies smashed the ball home to make it 4-1. The Last goal of the match went to Corinthian however it was nothing more then a consolation goal and the Tanners were victorious!
The next day and the Tanners were back in action however this time it wasn't against a side two leagues below, it was against a side two leagues above. Bromley FC were the visitors on Saturday and as many fans would say the game was 'Boring and Dull' Bromley ran out 2-0 winners despite a series of great saves by Millwall Loanee, Harry Girling. Both Sammy and Steve would've been pleased to see that there were a number of Trialists capable of playing first team football, so it was an all round productive game.
'I think the Tanners can put a smile on the Leatherhead fans that night, from what I've seen of the team so far they'll be able to cause an upset against Woking, I'm going for a 1-0 Win with Chike Kandi scoring the winning goal.'
