Tom Richards is a left sided midfielder who is also capable of playing as a left back. During pre-season, he has impressed while playing in the wing back role offering a threat on the attack as well as tracking back for his defensive duties.
Tom joined the well-established Fulham academy at the age of 16. He spent the next four years in the Fulham academy as well as going out on loan at League clubs AFC Wimbledon and Conference Premier side, Aldershot Town. While in the Fulham academy, he played major roles in winning the U18s national title in 2012 as well as winning the Dallas Cup the following year. While on loan at AFC Wimbledon, he made ten appearances and while on loan at Aldershot Town, he made nine appearances.
After impressing for Aldershot Town during his loan spell, the club signed him on a permanent basis at the beginning of the 15/16 season. During that season, he made twenty-five appearances and scored one goal. He was released at the end of the season by manager, Gary Waddock.
In June 2016, he went abroad to Austrian fourth tier side, FC Kitzbühel and scored two goals in seventeen appearances. In December 2016, he decided to terminate his contract and returned home to England.
Following his return home, he signed for Isthmian Division One side Walton Casuals and made four appearances before his departure. For the rest of the 16/17 season, he played for National League South side, Welling United and made six appearances.
